The Pure Atom team recently worked with a vulnerable homeowner in Hull to help them receive measures to improve the energy efficiency of their home. The client had low income, physical health conditions (and receiving treatment for cancer), poor housing conditions (no heating) and was receiving benefits. They were referred in to the service by Green Doctor, a charity that supports households to save money on their energy bills whilst reducing the environmental impact.

We were able to see the effects that having no heating was having on the client, Following a retrofit assessment the EPC at the Property came out as a G-1 Rated and as part of the ECO4 scheme we were able to complete the following funded measures:

  • A new heating system (air source heat pump)
  • Loft insulation
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • New hot water cylinder
  • Ventilation upgrades in line with part F of building regulations
  • Solar panels
  • These measures were funded via ECO4 funding and done to the government standards of PAS2035 & PAS2030 to ensure a complaint install. Following the measures being installed, the property is now A-93 rated.
